I'm wondering if anyone else has the following on their account today - I have suddenly gone from £250 in credit to over £1000 in credit. Looking at my payments it shows that I have had all my electricity payments since April last year refunded 😎
While I would love this to be correct, I'd rather get it sorted sooner rather than later, but wanted to check if it's just me or others have the same thing 😀
Sounds to me like it may be reversed account charges at work here. They are normally due to estimates and subsequent corrections and cause lots of confusion. I wouldn't rush to claim the credit balance as things will probably right themselves before too long. Perhaps contact customer service and see what they say.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

It is indeed reversed account charges as that's what it shows on the transactions page- but it's for all electricity chaqrges since last April, but it shows all smart meter reading for the past year as normal, so no idea why they should suddenly decide they owe me everything!! I don't intend to claim a refund, but just wanted to check if it was only me, in which case I'll contact customer service, or if it's a wider issue.
Thanks for this - I've just had a (not so!) quick read through, and there are similarities so I'll contact customer services to see what is going on. Just to confirm that there are no missing meter reads, with the last one being on 27th December and the next one due tomorrow!!
the revised charges will follow soon enough. Those on variable tariffs face different charges each quarter and showing the correct consumption to match the different price periods is a possible cause. Only by comparing the reversed bill with the new ones will the reason be established. The differences can be large or incredibly small, but reversing out and rebilling is a sensible route to follow although it does at first seem very confusing.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Thanks for this, but up until now, all the charges have tallied up with my own calculations using the IHD, Bright and Excel. Only trouble is that the gas readings on my IHD are now out of sync and Bright is missing some data for 3 days this week, so I can't do reliable calculations at the moment 🙄
UPDATE - I contacted customer services about this and it was resolved very quickly, but I've now got 4 additional charges showing on my account for electricity dated 6th Jan. Interestingly, I had a meter reader come round to take manual readings on about the 5th Jan, so I wonder if that additional reading was the cause of the issue 🤔
