The issue is certainly not unique and is a regular occurrence on the forum. There is no one easy fix unfortunately and you just need to hope it will eventually resolve itself. The problem is rarely the IHD itself but communications between the hub and the IHD and this can fall over for any number of reasons. So best advice is just to follow the suggestions given by other members and hope for the best.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I spoke to customer services this morning and they've confirmed that the meter is reporting normally so at least the meter is working fine - looks like the communication link between the meter and the IHD. They've referred it to their smart team who will get back to me 'at some point'.
Looks like you're stuck with the problem for now. The only one thing left that you can do yourself is to try an Ivie Bud. Even if it doesn't work at least it would add a bit more info that points the fault in Eon Next's direction.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Hi all. Just an update. Since starting this thread I have left the IHD plugged in to continue its doom loop of restarting itself with no change. However when I got up this morning it was working perfectly again - had reacquired the signal from the meter and returned to full functionality. Assume that the DCC sent a signal reset or something - who knows. Very pleased it's working again and equally as pleased that I didn't follow EON's advice that it was broken and I needed to buy a new one!

This seemingly agrees with my suggestion on the other recent thread...
I wonder if EOn ever requests the DCC to reboot the Comms Hub where people have frozen IHDs - they just seem to take the easy option of telling you to restart the IHD, then to buy a new one if no connection success 🫤
...mention on other forums of comms hubs requiring resetting - probably requiring a reset command issued via the DCC, but there were even instances of people pulling their main supply fuse causing a comms reboot
