I can sympathise with you having had the tee shirt. Have you tried the @meldrewreborn 's suggestion of submitting a manual reading?
Smart meter sending gas readings but not electricity to the IHD

If I understand correctly that would only generate an updated bill. I am on direct debit so EON will take my money no matter what :)

agreed but without an electricity bill for consumption you don’t know whether your balance is correct or not.Last edited by meldrewreborn; 13-03-24 at 11:41.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
I know - but EON always massively overestimates my use. I have £500 credit in my balance, also tariffs are about to go down so they are better fixing it before that.

So all the better if the balance is corrected with an accurate reading, then you can ask for your balance back and your DD to be set at a more realistic level.
But its entirely up to you. Personally i feel money is better in my account than theirs. -
Of course - I did it last year. You have to ask, takes 3 weeks, they only give you a partial refund, but I am going to do it only when the "British winter" is over... ie June/July 😂.
ATM I have £500 and two underestimated electric bills, it will even out eventually.
But the entire point of a smart meter is for them not having to pay someone to read my meter - also said, "it not my job" - my meter, although unobstructed, is really hard to reach...
Just puzzles me as why not receiving readings doesn't automatically trigger some alert and some attempt at fixing and it has to be triggered and chased by me like they are doing me a favour...

You can get a 100% refund and get your future DD reset - been there, done it, got the T shirt. Personally I'd go for early April when the lower tariffs have come in.
Or you could switch to paying on receipt of bill by DD - variable Direct Debit, then you'll get your refund over several months before the credit is exhausted - a bit like me!!
