I currently have (well had) power usage data every 10s triggering all sorts of automations (eg i was getting notified when the dishwasher or washing machine had finished, or when the oven was preheated or the coffee ready) and i use the gas data (only every half an hour) to modify my heating schedule
Smart meter sending gas readings but not electricity to the IHD

@retrotecchie nothing prevents me from building an homegrown solution on top of a smart meter - but it's easy for electricity, not that easy for gas.

Almost 2 months in, and my smart meter is still not working. I contacted eon support and it has taken close to 6 weeks just for them to ask "check if there is an obstruction blocking the signal".
* Gas readings are sent, I can see them both on the IHD and in the eon app
* Electricity readings are not - not visible from either the IHD or the app.
Lights are happily blinking as they should (except mesh but it is a sku1), wan and han are obviously working as is us sending gas readings to both the provider and the display.
Why are these systems so flawed and useless? -
@thedayofcondor
since the communications hub is attached to the electricity meter, and the gas signals are getting throug there is no signal issue.
why are things so bad - because there is no contract that can be enforced by the customer. Eon next will try remote fixes periodically and try to avoid doing what is really necessary a different hub which requires a return visit by the engineer.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
Thank you @meldrewreborn - yes they hinted to the solution being an engineer visit if everything else fails.
So basically you are saying they are just trying to buy time in hope the thingy will fix itself, sending remote reset... until a "costly" engineer visit is left as only option.
Sounds exactly what is happening.
But I wonder why the system itself is so unreliable. This is not the first time I have a problem, and judging by this forum I am not the only one (multiplied by the fact the largest majority of people will not even realise/care).

This suggestion is a wise move. I had a 'pull' from my working and reporting smart meter a while back for reasons unrelated to what you are experiencing so Eon Next definitely have it within their power to do this. It cannot hurt other than to generate a mid-cycle bill and it might do as suggested by my learned friend.
Re pencil/paper and def spreadsheets also good advice. The latter is even better with a working IHD. 😎 -
Ok but I have contacted customer service already weeks ago, and I am sending them reminder emails every two weeks. Next one is due on Monday.
My electric bill seems to only include the standing charge, on the other hand I am paying anyway as i am on direct debit.
I will ask but I would expect that if the solution was so simple they would have tried already... -
@thedayofcondor
perhaps you should submit manual readings online, which should trigger a proper bill. -
Just contacted customer service again. Received a nice "fob off" response, clearly the customer service rep has not even read what I wrote, to the point he addressed me with the wrong name 🤔.
This has been going on unaddressed for almost 2 months now.
I do not think EON is taking me seriously, I am at the point I am going to switch energy provider over this. -
Morning @thedayofcondor It's sad to hear you are no further on. What information were you given by Customer Services? Did you ask them to try and pull a reading?
