hoping this isn’t just me, it appears I’ve been over charged on my electricity. I was £342 in credit and I submitted a meter reading which has come back saying between the 23rd December and the 16th January, I’ve used £326.71! I wasn’t at home for Christmas so we turned all electrics off whilst we were away and we’ve never used more than £8 per day in electric when we have been here so naturally it’s come as a bit of a shock. Has anyone else had this type of thing happen? I’m hoping it’s just a simple error to rectify but there’s no way I’ve used over £300 in electric in the past 20 something days

I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Hi,
yeah the meter reading was on the previous bill and I submitted the meter reading for my latest bill this morning and got an email back this afternoon with the charge on there -
Evening @Pbh95
Your previous bill was estimated? Go back to the statement before that one. Check that it wasn't estimated. If not estimated take that reading away from your recently submitted reading. That will give you the units you have used since the last actual reading. Multiply the units by your tariff add your daily standing charge for that period. Now subtract any payments you have made and see what results. It should give you a pretty accurate current bill. -
There you go. I would say previous bill was underestimated and now your account is up-to-date with your accurate reading today. Always best to submit a reading every month so there are no surprises. -
@Pbh95 Hello, welcome to the community 😀 As some of our members have advised, it may be a catch up bill if your previous read was estimated. If not - double check the reading submitted falls in line with your previous reads. Do you have a smart meter fitted?🌳Together we can work to achieve a more sustainable Future 🌳
