Just wondering if anybody else has had the same issue with their Smart Meter readings, or am I the only one!
At the end of day on Friday 12th January on going to bed noticed my smart meter reading was £25 for gas and electric for the week. Have thermostat lower overnight so heating rarely comes on. When I awoke in the morning Smart Meter was showing a reading of £55, a massive jump overnight. I thought it may be an addition for standing charge however reads this is applied daily so should be no sudden increase, and in any case not this much. This is not the first time this has happened.
Has anybody else experienced this, and is there a simple explanation.
I'd suggest that you look at the gas and electricity usage kWh for as many days as you can either side of the 12th January. The IHD £ totals are often incorrect/missing for a variety of reasons so should be taken with a huge pinch of salt - mine are indeed missing/incorrect but the kWh usage numbers I see are 'normal' for this time of year. It is the IHD kWh figures that I 'trust' way more than the £ figures and it is these than I use in budgeting (as I convert into £ accurately on a daily spreadsheet).
EDIT I've had another thought. Perhaps the figure £ you saw was the total costs for the month of January so far. Mine is showing £86.60 but I know this is inflated by circa 25% because the IHD does not show my correct tariff information.
@tommo If you haven't already, it might be worth downloading something like the Hugo or Bright app.
It'll give you historical usage once populated.
As @Mailman says the IHD isn't totally reliable on £.

Reason: Extra information
The good thing about Bright is that you can input the correct tariff information into the app so you would be able to determine accurately the £ cost on a particular previous day if you wish.
My Bright app tells me that my usage has cost me £31.00 on gas and £28.31 on electricity total £59.31 (not inc today) since the New Year.
Just to add that I checked the figures calculated by Bright (they are £59.31) v figures calculated by myself in spreadsheet (updated daily) from daily kWh readings (£59.29) v what the IHD is currently showing (£86.60). I think you can see what to trust 😉
