Hi first time posting.
I’m currently with EDF, paying on receipt of bill, deemed eco7 with smart meter.
I’m being charged the following;
Day 38.52
Night 17.58
Standing charge 53.90
I only use 1 med storage heater
my last monthly bill was £213
I don’t know if my smart meter is working properly.
For last 3 days I have had to put an electric heater on for evening (6hours max on 18’c)
as my glass is broken on my log burner.
I don’t use my oven, tumble drier, or any other electric heater.
I live in a small 2 bed bungalow, double glazed, loft installation, no bath, no power shower, immersion heater.
please can anyone advise me what I can do to reduce this amount. Thank you
if your storage heaters are modern with thermostat control I’d use another storage heater.
and get your log burner fixed.
what makes you think the meter is faulty - this does happen but it’s very rare.

@meldrewreborn
glass on fire was broken just 3 days ago and the new glass is on order.
do you think switching and going on a fixed tariff who be the answer
I have an immersion heater too and it is very expensive to run. Do you use it on a timer, do you boost or do you have it on constant? Mine is on constant as I need access to instant hot water, it costs me a small fortune though at around £5 per day to run 😒
Storage heaters can also be quite expensive to run especially the older style with bricks in, however when they come up to temperature they do tend to hold the heat...(hence the name storage heater Deb 🤦♀️) and if used efficiently they may cost you less. The older style do tend to be less efficient than more modern storage heaters though.
I do hope you've managed to get the glass for your fire sorted? 🔥
