Microwaves vs Airfryers: Which Is Better?
Across several rounds we challenge the trusty old microwave - owned by 90% of British households - to take on the air fryer for speed, convenience, cost, and taste. Which will come out on top?
Thanks for the info. I'll have to record it, because I'll be watching Vera, (one of my two favourite TV detectives, the other being Fred Thursday), on ITV3. 👮♀️
If you don’t mind , I’ll pass on this one. Never be an early adopter of new tech is a favourite maxim of mine. Thing getter better and cheaper over time if they prove to be useful and disappear from the market if not.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Morning @meldrewreborn . At this moment in time and through this year I'm experimenting with an airfryer and comparing to a conventional electric fan oven. Sorry no gas comparison. The comparison will be:
Quality of cooking.
Costing / energy consumption.
Speed.
Let's be honest I think most of us know the pros and cons about microwave ovens.
I'll let you know this time next year whether it's a 👍 or 👎 and whether I "love it or list it" 😂.
I've used microwaves since the 70s. I've used an air cooker (not an air fryer - I own one but it's not seen the light of day in years) since November 2022.
They both have their merits but neither are a replacement for each other. But both have replaced my conventional electric oven and hob for most jobs.
Some things can only be done on a regular hob, but I find myself using the popty ping a lot less than I used to and the air oven rather a lot more these days.
Rather like @meldrewreborn I tend not to adopt new tech until it has proven itself with time and can demonstrate a benefit to me over and above old tech. I only got a smart phone at the end of last year too and it has some handy benefits, but still prefer to use a regular PC for most things.
But an air oven definitely gets a 👍 from me and wherever possible I use mine instead of the conventional oven. It cannot replace a microwave but certainly works nicely in tandem with one.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I have used a microwave for years too, but I haven't gone down the air fryer/ air oven route yet. I use my slow cooker and my hob quite a lot, and still favour my conventional oven for baking and making roast dinners. I like the look of the air ovens, so I might treat myself to one of those in the near future.
I don't have a smartphone yet either, I use my laptop for the internet . My mobile is an old-fashioned 'dumb' one, a bit like me!🤣🤣🤣.
@Tommysgirl I've actually had an air fryer for a few years mainly because of the grandkids wanting chips chips and more chips 🤣. Time has come to see what it really is capable of doing. One hears so much, I thought 2024 is a good time to start.
Rather @retrotecchie I got my first true smartphone last year. It's a very basic cheapo one. It does what I want which is make and receive calls, and yes I can check to see my smart meters aren't working as well. 🤣
I'd used an iPhone 5 for many years but Apps were updated and needed a higher OS than the 5 could give. in October 2022 I got the then latest iPhone SE for £300 - hopefully it'll last me for quite a few years.
