electricity meter cover blown away in recent storm

My electricity meter cover has blown away in storm. There are no online meter covers the right size. EON Next executive complaints say its my responsibility. I booked a British Gas engineer but they rang today to say they don't do covers

Any meter enclosure is the responsibility of the homeowner. It would have been installed by the builder of the property, most likely.
Gas and electricity meter cubbys and sometimes doors are available through most trade suppliers like Wickes, Howdens or Jewson's. A builder or similar should be able to do something, but E.On Next are correct in that it is not their responsibility.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -

@retrotecchie is right, the meter doors are the responsibility of the home owner, and not the energy companies, and they should be available from the companies he's mentioned. The door would probably be installed by the builders of your property, (mine were). Several NPower meter readers and boiler servicing engineers almost wore away the triangular locking mechanism on my gas meter door by using pliers instead of the proper keys, but NPower wouldn't replace the lock, even though it was their staff who damaged it. (fortunately it still works, for now), by turning it several times. I've seen meter box doors for sale on Amazon, but they might not be the right size. If your house is fairly new, can you contact the building firm to find out where they got the doors from? A reliable local builder or handyman should be able to help sort it for you.
