I believe there are a number of different versions of IHD with various levels of functionality
Mine is an old one that does not appear to reflect my current tariff and the budget setting only allows for an average daily figure which does not allow for seasonal variations - so pretty useless really.
EoN has all my usage data and tariff for both fuels, so why not provide me with online access to a graph of daily usage and comparisons with previous years?
Via an phone App this information would be much more helpful than the very limited IHD capability. Consumers have paid for this largely useless IHD technology as a bribe to enable smart meters- this reduces the cost of suppliers having to read meters - but not passed on to consumers!
@crickhollow Morning. I would suggest possibly looking at Hildebrand Bright app. That should give you all you want.
My whole system is very old and the smart side has a mind of it's own. Working when it wants. I find using what I can with pen paper and a spreadsheet works perfectly. Graphs budgets and figures. 👴

Hi WizzyWigg. Thanks for the suggestion. I have had a quick look at a Consumer Access Device (CAD) at £70 - yet another acronym! - from Glow. https://shop.glowmarkt.com/ which can be integrated with the Bright app you mention. What other options does Bright offer to acquire readings and input tariff data etc?
I do think that EoN should offer (for free) this graphical analysis of individual energy use . They acquire our data via the smart meter so why not present usage comparisons etc via a similar app?

Hi crickhollow. As I mentioned my "Smart" setup is very old and past it's prime 👴.
As far as I can see the Hildebrand Bright app (which is free) will probably give you as much info as any IHD.
Graphs, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly usage and costings. The ability to add tariffs if necessary.
It obtains it's information from the DCC as does the Eon Next app.
Lots of very learned members on this forum use Bright.
May be eventually the Eon Next app will have all the bells and whistles.
I suppose the only negative with the app is that it's not available for everyone to see.

@crickhollow - once your meters are registered with Bright, you automatically have an account set up with Glowmarkt and can download about 13 months of your raw half-hourly gas and electricity usage data in .csv format (from your meters via the DCC) to process as you want in spreadsheets etc
FYI I have now downloaded the Eon app 'Next' and now seem to have access to daily energy usage and cost data . The app also provides access to statements, tariff and some account management facilities. No comparison with previous years.
I have also downloaded the 'Bright' app which is now starting to obtain hourly and daily usage data. Looks more useful than 'Next' as a source of information. With the associated CAD (IHD equivalent) £70 then real-time management is feasible as the data used is specific to my meters.
I still think that Eon should provide better analytical data on usage on the Accounts web site.
FYI I have now downloaded the Eon app 'Next' ...I have also downloaded the 'Bright' app

@crickhollow - one thing to be aware of - both apps pick your tariff rate up from your meter (not the rate from your EOn billing account), so if the meter tariff is incorrect (which mine is) the app costings will be incorrect.
However the Bright app allows you to override the meter rate and enter your correct rates, so you can get the true cost of usage.
