How can this be fair when it i am told there are no appointments in my area
Moved house and it had a dual rate Economy 7 meter with Octopus.
The daytime rate was astronomical and night-time not much better than standard variable but Octopus would not chnage my tariff and could not offer a smart meter install.
Eon Next would not let me switch and a few other energy suppliers were the same and wouldn't let me know the smart meter install situation until I was a customer.
British Gas allowed me to switch and then allowed me to change to the single rate standard variable tariff but they would not install a smart meter as not doing my area and waiting list.
I booked for an isolation switch to be installed between the meter and the consumer unit fuse box and then persuaded the installer to also install a smart meter.
Changed to the British Gas EV 2 tariff,
Off Peak unit rate 8.95p per kWh, Peak unit rate, 30.93p per kWh, Standing charge 40.97p per day, No exit fee, Fixed for 1 year.
When the price cap goes up in January the EV rate is an even better deal.
