no phone calls back meter still frozen mate. now their saying 8 weeks to wait.
put a complaint in as my parents are on vunerable list. waiting for a reply.

I find the reaction of Eon next in these circumstances totally bizarre.
There are thousands of meter installs happening each day which involve the removal of a function meter. It should be entirely possible to run the schedule of installers to allow for some emergency meter replacements at short notice.
try to get hold of the consumption figures from last year as eventually these will form the basis of your parent’s billing over the period of failure.
the vulnerability of you parents carries no weight assuming they still are able to consume energy, and they are unlikely to be overcharged - that is the suppliers position. It’s disgraceful.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@maxamus73 Thank you for the update, that's so annoying. The smart team should look into this for you - review the information provided and get back to you with the result - just to confirm - do the readings on the meter itself still change? is it just the meter communication that's dropped?

readings do not change. totally frozen. just had a message saying they have sped the process up and will have an update next tuesday
not holding much hope as they have promised to phone me with solutions 3 times and failed to.

I’m not aware of any remote command that can get a stuck meter operating correctly - but I’m not an expert. If I’m correct then what you need from the smart meter team is an appointment to replace the meter soonest. -

If an electricity meter freezes on the same reading, smart or otherwise, nothing will fix it. The current sensing metering element has failed. Only one fix - a replacement meter. It's a hardware fault, not something that can be fixed remotely.
