I am in the UK just north of London and had set my VPN too "London, England". But anyway why wouldn't people be allowed to pay their bill form France, Australia, etc?
You might have better luck with a different VPN. And if that fails you might want to consider turning off your client just for the Eon Next transactions.
As I don’t use this form of payment you’ll forgive the idiot question , do you pay by going into the Eon Next account to pay by a long card number or do you go to your bank account to initiate a faster bank payment? Can you do either or just the one method?

@DrMichael - following on from the above.... I am assuming you're making your payments from a PC, and thus your payment issues are occurring on your home network (connected to the interweb via the VPN )
Can you not just use your mobile connected via 4G/5G, using your banking app and/or EOn account to make the payment? Avoiding your VPN completely, if it is that which is actually causing the problems.
