Smart meter not giving electricity readings. This has been know by E.ON for a couple of months. No attempt has been made to fix the problem or replace the smart meter. E.ON have sent a letter asking for a reading. Why are you not fixing the problem?
The supplier will not be too bothered that the meter is not able to send its readings - so long as it is actually recording consumption and can act in the same manner as a traditional (non smart meter) meter. I wish there were penalties for suppliers (that they were unable to recover from consumers as part of their normal operating costs), but sadly that isn't the case, and there is little incentive to get dumb meters smart again.
However, if you can post a picture (3rd icon from right when you post a message) of your meter AND the communications hub attached to it with a description of the lights (Wan, Lan etc), what colour the lights are and how often they flash, experts here might be able to advise you of what the fault is and thus give you more information to use against customer services. And state the general indication of where you live as the systems differ between North and South.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn
Thanks for taking the time to reply. It isn't a vary good service,that's for sure. I don't see the point of smart meters if they don't work properly. I guess it's just the way things are in this country now.
@Atadmiffed Hello👋 Have you contacted one of our Energy specialists regarding this? It could be part of an ongoing communications issue with some smart meters - an Energy Specialist would be able to clarify further with you.
