I have managed to get to the happy point of being £400 in credit before winter bills. I would like to take advantage of the new tariff that’s £50 under, but the monthly payment is dearer than I am currently paying. Do they not take into account my credit I have painstakingly built up? I use about £950 a year (dual fuel/small bungalow) but with the credit I would be paying hundreds over my usage. I’m not sure what to do.
Switch from a fixed monthly direct debit to a variable direct debit. That way not only do you pay for exactly what you use every month but they will debit future bills from your credit balance first until that is used up before taking any DD payments from you.
A quick phone call to Customer Services will do that for you.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Thanks for your reply, in theory yes that would work but I am scared of the big winter bills, also would need to save extra to cover them. I really would like a fair monthly payment. I will try customer services again and hope I get a more understanding one. Unfortunately don’t have baby dragons!!
Before you contact customer service, you could submit a manual meter reading to get an up-to-date credit balance. Then look at that latest statement that will be generated to see what your latest estimated annual consumption is for both fuels. Now use the new tariff rates against that estimated consumption to see how much they think your energy will cost over the coming year. Subtract the new credit balance and you will have the net predicted annual cost. Divide by 12 and you will have as best an idea as you will get as to what the monthly DD should be... and all done using their own figures 👍
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Brilliant, thank you. I will do exactly that. Thanks for taking the time to explain I do appreciate your help. As you say they shouldn’t disagree with “their” figures
