My domestic smart meter, which E.On asked to install at the end of 2022, stopped sending readings after a few months. I contacted E.On and they promised to investigate and fix it. That was in June. I asked again in August. Still not working. Will they ever fix this? Why has it stopped sending readings? The in-home display works.
The data from the meter has to be sent by a type of mobile signal (in the south) or by radio (in the north) to a company called the DCC which then relays the data (without recording it) to your supplier. The system is very complex, weighed down with security features and has many points where it might fail. While most customers have few problems, some take months to resolve. In the meantime you can revert to logging manual readings with your supplier..
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn is spot on but if you would like to post some photos of your meters, comms hub, and IHD, also tell us the status of the lights on the meters, (colour, still? flashing? If flashing frequency, every 2 , 5 secs what ever). There are some very learned members in the community who might be able to help you. Absolutely no promises though.

Reason: Grammar mistake
@WizzyWigg I could, but would that cause my meter to start sending readings? It's E.On's job to fix it, after all.
Probably not, we can only give advice and then over to you. 😉 Your meters might be as unreliable as mine. Eon Next have been trying to sort for ages 👴.
@meldrewreborn And what E.On need to do is send one of their engineers around to diagnose the problem. I can't send the meter to them, and they have not asked me for any information about it. I'll just put up with it and keep sending manual readings, as I have done for quite a while. It's no great bother to do that once a month.

Reason: Mistake
The company have often said that so long as the meter is recording properly then its not a priority, Some people who have pestered them and supplied supplementary information have been successful in getting full functionality restored, but it doesn't seem to be easy. I'm not a fan of smart meters, but I think that the advertising hype often isn't delivered, and because there is no contract covering the installation -because they are supplied at no explicit cost - there is little the consumer can do about it.
