Level 9130-09-23Just read on BBC news that a man in his 60s has been arrested and is in custody assisting police in their enquiries into the felling of the Sycamore Gap tree.
I have to confess that I had never heard of this tree before it was felled. Am I the only one?I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -

Probably not but most if not all visitors to Hadrian's Wall would probably be aware of it and possibly visited it on that stretch of the wall. Certainly the tree is well known in The North.Last edited by Mailman; 30-09-23 at 16:28.

I've just had an email reply from Northumberland National Parks Authority a few minutes ago. They've received thousands of emails and letters, and are liaising with the National Trust on the next steps to take with Sycamore Gap. The lady who emailed me said they've had lots of offers from local artists and craftspeople who would like to create some lasting mementoes from the felled tree, and said she would let me know when they and the National Trust decide what to do. I'll let you know if I hear from them.🌳👍 -

I hadn't seen the article on the BBC News website, I saw a bit about it on BBC Red Button News, but it didn't give as much detail. I never thought about the Unesco World Heritage Site status complicating the decision on what happens. Thank you so much for the update. I'll let you know if I hear any more from the National Parks Authority, or the National Trust. 🌳👍
