I'm trying to move from my legacy radio teleswitch setup to a smart meter, but E.On Next's energy specialists state I'm not eligible. My current meter/RTS is a simple 5 terminal setup, would something like the ES-12B not be appropriate?
It would be if E.On Next knew how to program the darn things. Several horror stories of those being fitted and folks losing their heating and hot water, despite several visits by engineers who don't have a Scooby.
If I wanted a smart meter, which I don't and never will, I would get a bog standard 4 terminal meter fitted, along with an isolator switch, then get a competent electrician to fit a 40A mechanical timeswitch, and just be medieval about synchronising the time switch as close as humanly possible to the E7 times for your region. Better still, just forget E7 heating completely and fit OFCH...but get in quick before they ban it for new installations!
Oil currently around 4p per kWh and no standing charges 👍😎
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie thanks for the reply, sadly I'm renting so am limited to many of your suggestions!
Really looking to get a smart meter via E.On to easily track usage, but if not possible any suggestions for a new energy supplier who could fit a 5 terminal would be grateful
I'd suggest SSE or OVO as they have a lot of experience with the older complex metering systems. E.On Next should be able to do it but their 'Energy Specialists' don't really get how 5 terminal metering is supposed to work. I'm sure their meter engineers are capable enough but there always seems to be a 'disconnect' between the customer services people and the technical teams, from what I've seen.
