A rare iPhone 4Gb phone sold recently at action for crazy money. Just think what a fully working Igloo-branded SMETS1 Landis and Gyr with functioning IHD and the original EE SIM card in the comms hub would be worth, mint and in original box?
I'd like one to go with my 1993 vintage Sony 6 head VCR and my 1982 Commodore VIC20, both boxed with original instructions in working order. 🤣🤣🤣

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

You are on my wavelength. Just got to convince the rest it's the way forward. Perhaps start a collectors club and have swap meets. I can see that SMETS1 you mentioned being auctioned by Southerby's for a record amount. 😂😂
That's a massive drop in consumption 👏 @meldrewreborn have you done anything else differently this year or is this solely a change from the fridge freezer?

The vast majority is down to the fridge freezer, but there will have been other elements (both plus and minus ) as well.
here is a graph showing average daily consumption in kWh by month in past 3 years. The new freezer was purchased 2nd week in November 2022.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
The moral of this tale is that while the maxim "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is one I generally subscribe to, its also true that in general modern appliances use less energy than old appliances, and for some appliances their efficiency declines even more as they age although they still work (the freezer was still maintaining freezing temperatures). So even though it wasn't broken down it was an energy guzzler, and the only way to tell was to measure the consumption of this one appliance was by using a through plug meter.
Also appliances that are working all the time (fridges and freezers mainly) can use a lot of energy.
Further to the explanation above, I now think the saving due mainly to replacing my old energy guzzling freezer is circa 1170 kWh per annum. At current prices that is £284 pa. The Freezer cost me £449, so in a little while I'll be in front, if I'm not already given how prices have moved in the interim.
My usage is circa 1690 kWh per annum now or 4.63 kWh per day.
Lets get to the bottom of this as it is a big enough discrepancy that the general public need to know. 1170kWh/year is a huge saving; 3.2 kWh/day; eight times more than I clocked mine using in March (not ten; I was inaccurate to call it an order of magnitude). I've looked at mine in the summer enough to see similar motor draw of about 70 Watts and the time with motor on increasing from once an hour as now to about half of the time; estimated 0.9kWh/day in summer; still well under one third of your savings. I'm trying to guess what could have been wrong with your old fridge freezer. Its motor could not have been on for 190% of the time so must have been a lot bigger than mine. Excepting the millisecond start spike, what is the maximum usual power draw of your old and new fridge freezers ?
