I went into the Google Play Store, searched for the app and it simply gave me an option to update my existing version, Worked a treat!
Mind you, the new version looks exactly the same as the old one....I can't see a single difference.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Did yours have the very vague "trying a new build" release note?
I think possibly I may have triggered the alert by inadvertently uninstalling the app and immediately reinstalling which may be flagged as potentially malicious activity.
Looking into this a bit more I think what happened is you interrupted Bitdefender's uninstall scan by immediately reinstalling the app, which starts an install scan. This would be flagged as suspicious.
I must say the update comment by the tech bods really isn't very helpful or inspiring.
@WizzyWigg which comment are you referring to? The one from Bitdefender? I mean at first the note 'trying a new build' note made me think straight away of new build houses π - I would say not the best option of words there π
@retrotecchie that's interesting π§, I will try to do some digging today and try and get some answers. Although, I believe that sometimes the apps update for an optimisation of the system rather than changing features.

Hi @Bennie_EONNext the note / comment is the one on Google Play by the tech dept. As you say not the best choice of words. Doesn't inspire confidence. Tries implies 'having another go, not confident this will work either '. New means not used before! π€ At least that's my interpretation, sorry. π
Anyway my updated app is working as normal. π
PS fortunately I do know what that comment means ππ΄.
@WizzyWigg I totally agree with you. I am not a master in tech but the people who are could have chosen a better choice of wording.
I am glad you are all set! π
I am not the expert in those kinds of scenarios as my phone is an apple and I don't really have other apps to cleanse my phone or to secure me from viruses or malicious activities. π
Is that a good thing or not ? I don't really know, π€·ββοΈ but I have asked the question, so hopefully someone will get back to me sooner rather than later π
Brilliant. π
In a sense I'm glad people do query what they put on their devices. There's so much going on in the cyber world at the moment and we have become complacent.
Have a great day π
I believe prevention is better than cure. The cyber world is so complex and full of things to learn and be aware of so, it's great and it's positive been proactively secure. π
