Now that the new cap prices are actually lower than the Loyalty v4 fix, any thoughts as to if E.on Next will come up with a new fix for "loyal" customers to come under the cap, or is it time to ditch the fix and go variable
I agree that Loyalty v4 is more expensive than the October cap but consider this:
Loyalty v4 has already saved you a few £ compared to the existing cap although the pendulum shifts to the cap from October 1st for the next 3 months agreed.
Consider what might be the situation in exactly 3 months time (i.e then announcement of the January 1st cap announced sometime in late November). I stay with Loyalty v4 and the January cap prices fall, then I can exit Loyalty v4 in late November and go back to the the cap and stay on the cap from late November though March. All this will cost me is less than £10 on my likely usage between October and end of November.
Now consider what happens if the January cap is more expensive than Loyalty v4 for your usage. As I am still on Loyalty v4, I wait for another until another 3 months before making the next decision in late February.
The great thing about Loyalty v4 is the no exit fee to another Eon Next tariff, be it Next Flex or another one that might come along in the future. If prices rise (as currently predicted) in Q1-2024, then, the already marginal difference for me, swings back in favour of loyalty v4.
I'm sticking, at least until the next Ofgem announcement in November OR there are very obvious indicators that the next cap rise is going to be lower still (ATM unlikely)😀
