Today my smart meter is reading that I have spent double the actual amount showing (for my electricity). I calculated the price from the amount used as shown by the metre and multiplied it by the unit price and standing order as shown on my E.ON Next account. The two figures are widely different.
Yesterday it showed me spending pennies, although the amount used seems accurate and when calculated by me adds up to £2.85
Anyone get any suggestions about how to resolve this so my display is accurate. I turned the machine on and off and it has made no difference.
Your IHD has tariff information which doesn't allow for the price cap/EPG. This happened to a lot of folks. Send an email to customer services with all your account details in the body and 'Request Tariff Update' as the subject.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@shropshirelass
Have you compared the tariff and standing charge on your account and the tariff and standing charge on your IHD (In Home Display)? Are they the same?
@WizzyWigg I'm not sure how to do that as my smart metre says costs per hour £0.13 and has the figure 384w. I have no idea what that means and can not find a unit cost charge on the smart metre
@shropshirelass
Don't worry. Those figures you've mentioned look to be Now Figures (ie what you are using at this time). You are using 0.384 kw/hour and at the most recent price cap would cost you 0.13p/hour. Those figures will change as you switch more items on. Could I ask what figures you are using for your calculations?
@WizzyWigg I'm usimg the figures on my eon account from onlie. Unit costs of 32.81 and Standing charge 51.394. When I x these with the actual units used the cost comes to half as much as its showing on my smart metre today. This has never happened before.
@shropshirelass
👴 Now you've got me slightly baffled. Your Now Figures are showing me that your Tariff is right on you IHD. I think we might have to wait until one of the volunteers with more knowledge comes to your help. I'll tag one in who might have a better idea. @retrotecchie . In the mean time if you could tell us the make and model of your IHD that would be most helpful. A photo would do. Bye 👋for now.

Reason: Punctuation
The amount that I see on your picture is the 'usage now' data (from the second button on the bottom menu) which has its uses but as a guideleine for how much you have used 'in the day so far' it's not really helpful. The third button is more useful with the electric/gas sign. I'm assuming you are able to navigate the menus available on this IHD (the bottom row buttons) to get to the 'History' via the calendar (the fourth button) - what you used on the previous day etc. The reading(s) will also show kWh and the £ amount. The other thing the IHD should show is the tariff information. If this is wrong now just remember that it will probably change again on July 1st anyway.
TBH the thing that needs to be correct now is the kWh consumed each day. Hopefully if you do as @retrotecchiesuggested you might get the thing showing you what you want it to show i.e. the correct £ used
