Absolutely. The infrastructure needs a complete overhaul.
Next Loyalty 12M Fixed Rate - July 23 Issue 1
-
My fix is up next week and I have no options except the standard, why are some customers getting this and not all?
-
@andydragon
I was on a fixed tariff until April but the way the market was looking forward I decided to go for standard variable. I did in fact come out of the fixed before the end. I'm not aware of the availability of Eon Next fixed tariffs. Sorry.

Hi @andydragon
This might be interesting it's a Martin Lewis Tweet on the 19th of May. -
Probably to avoid a deluge of customers wanting such a tariff. Personally I’ll wait for more competition to emerge before committing.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@meldrewreborn
We'll get competition in spades as soon as the Government do what they say they will do and get rid of the system where the generators get paid the price of the most expensive generation, currently gas.Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
@retrotecchie
Agreed.
In the meantime a little light reading for you 😎
Electricity Market esp the section 'How Might the Market be Reformed'
We cannot continue with the current model in perpetuity as we would be tied to the marginal cost of production (via gas) for many many decades to come. 😟 -
We had competition prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine! Even without reform of the electricity pricing issue. But the system does need reform, and it will come. So long as they don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. -
@meldrewreborn
True, although some of the 'competitors' in the market set their prices too low. Look what happened to them...
