Hello, is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
I can not log in to my account (tried on 5th May in the morning) and thinking that I had a password issue also I found that I could not reset my password. So I'm effectively locked out.
The error messages on both was Sorry there is an error, please try again (which I did three times).
I phoned up to get help connecting and the advisor said that this was an issue and he would contact me by the end of the day but did not do so.
Today (6th May) the problem is still there.
Using a Mac (OS 12.6.5) and Firefox (112.0.2).
On 7th May also tried using a Mac (OS 12.6.5) and Safari (16.4.1); same issues.
Also tried using an iPad (iPadOS 15.7.5) and DuckDuckGo (7.70.6); same issues.
Finally tried with my ancient Netbook running Debian (8, Jessie) and Firefox esr (68.9.0). Here the eonnext page was completly blank, unsurprising for something so old.
I'll try contacting eon after the bank holiday.
OK Issue resolved!
After slogging from one browser to another and likewise with machines, I turned off my VPN (ExpressVPN) and I'm able to access my account at eonnext.
I'm not happy with this, as the web site worked with the VPN on a few weeks ago.
So what's changed?
Perhaps eon can pay me for my amateur "beta" testing?
@everreadyed
There have been some updates to ExpressVPN since the end of April, one was on the 3rd of May. ??????🤔
Hat tip to you WizzyWigg, I have just upgraded to the latest version of Expressvpn on my Mac (11.29.0) but to no avail. Still get the same error messages 😞.
@everreadyed
This may sound strange but I go to my Eon Next account daily. I'm running the same Mac OS as yourself but use Safari. No VPN. I haven't experienced any problems for many moons. Like yourself I have checked on other OS's (Android and Linux Mint) again no problems. Sorry that's not much help. 🙁
If the VPN assigns an IP address range outside the UK, quite a few UK-based sites do not allow access. The same way you cannot use BBC iPlayer outside the UK unless you have a UK based VPN.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie
True it's possible. ExpressVPN is supposed to use uk servers. Could be that or perhaps a change of protocol. Personally I hate VPNs. Tried loads over the years and always found problems with something or other.
It is supposed to use UK servers, but they only have five and if they are all full, you will be routed via an alternative server outside the UK. Unless you are connecting into a secure corporate network (which will have it's own VPN by default), they do often cause more issues than they solve
