Hi all, I had been having trouble with my smart meter not communicating with EON. An engineer payed a visit and couldn't resolve the issue so changed the meter and things appear to be all tickety boo with one caveat. The engineer took my Geo trio 2 touchscreen with wifi and a very usable app, and replaced it with the potato that is the smartview³. I have disabilities and have trouble getting down to the IHD to do anything with it whereas with the trio things were easier to see and the app showed instant usage data and gave weekly and monthly summaries that were easy to understand. My question is could I get my old Trio 2 returned? Has anybody had this problem and had it sorted? Many thanks for getting through my rambling post and thanks in advance for any responses.  James.
The IHD once paired to a meter can't be paired to another meter. Which is why anyone considering buying a second hand IHD is onto a loser - they will not work in a new location.
So your Geo trio 2 is best forgotten, But there are many apps to consider and somebody who actually has experience of these things will be along to help soon.!
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Thanks for the reply. That's a bit of a bugger though. I guess I'll have to have Google about those apps you mentioned so I can see what I'm using. If I got down to see the IHD I might never get back up. Thanks again.

A working smartview should give you access to 'usage now' data (on the device itself) - at least according to the smartview brochure and any cumulative energy stats (daily, monthly etc) can also be obtained from the likes of the bright app.
If it is a case of getting down to see the smartview device just move it if you can to a more convenient location as it connects to the smart meter wirelessly on the 2.4GHz band. My chameleon IHD is about 1 metre from my desk at head height (and easily visible), about 4 metres away from the actual meter I suppose. I generally leave it plugged in as well.
Hi @Mailman, the problem I have is that my meter is outside and I only have one plug socket near enough to get a signal and then only if angled a certain way. It then stands on the wifi extender next to it at skirting board level. Getting down to it to press the buttons is problematic to say the least. I've tried jabbing at it with my grabber but that changes the orientation and causes signal loss. I will look into the Bright app you mentioned. Thankyou, James.
Hi @jimmystol roughly speaking how far is the IHD away from the meter. I'm trying to visualise the relationship between the two. Are they on the same floor of your house? Not sure that having the IHD on top of the extender is a good idea.
Agreed. Two devices trying to transmit and receive on 2.4GHz, albeit using different protocols, in close proximity is never a good idea.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I live in a high rise so it's all an the same level but the walls are concrete and cinder block. The meter is to the left of the front door on the outside. The signal strength of the IHD remains the same with the wifi booster on or off.
@jimmystol
Thanks for the photo. Can I just clarify what is exactly in the socket? Does the IHD come with an ac adapter that has a length of cable? Is the meter to the left as we are looking? Is this where the engineer originally positioned the IHD?
