I have given around 18 months of regular readings on the 28th of each month and was told after 12 months my EAC (estimated annual consumption) would be updated to reflect my usage...I am still waiting even though I am only using just over half of the current EAC
This is a customer to customer forum, not a backdoor to customer services. If your EAC is causing your DD to be set too high, I suggest you switch to payment after receipt of bill by DD. Your credit will be depleted gradually, before you start paying for your actual consumption.
You can try to get your fixed Direct Debit reduced based on your own assessment of annual consumption but I suspect you'll have a tough job, because my impression of customer services is that generally they've forgotten what customer services should actually do.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Hi thanks for your input, I will indeed look into payment after receipt of bill....I guess my units will be very slightly more than a fixed DD.
Also I was not treating this as a back door to customer services...I was told the forums might have customers in a similar situation who could shed light on such a problem.
So long as you pay by direct debit, the prices are the same whether you pay by fixed monthly amounts or variable on receipt of bill. I see less and less point of a fixed DD every month for a product or service that's so variable.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie
I agree and have now changed to variable DD.
The EAC is archaic and not fit for purpose, customers who pay fixed DD are having to argue their DD down as the promised reassessment of their actual usage never materializes....

I'd agree that there is something amiss with the EAC and it then puts the onus on the customer to argue the case that historic records of usage (that the customer keeps) is lower using actual household usage. Looking back over my statements it is quite clear to me that the EAC numbers are higher for both utiliities than actual usage for the previous 12 months as my data shows (the actual usage columns kWh are the sum of the previous 12 months monthly usage). The EAC numbers have changed over time but they have invariably been too high. Another compelling reason to pay for what I have used via variable DD. 😁

@XL5 Hey - I can see you've not been back here for a while, it would be great if you could let us know how it went and if this was corrected for you :)

Hi
No my EAC has never been reassessed yet I give monthly readings on the dot.
It has now been 2 years and the promises made to me regarding being reassessed have never materialized....
Another annoying element to this saga is that I'm in the process of selling my house which has eco credentials.
I have told prospective buyers my actual usage yet when they ask for the EAC it makes me out to be a liar.
Not pleased!
I wonder if EAC figures churned out in monthly statements rely on smart meter data to populate these metrics. I say this because my leccy EAC is accurate and does change slightly every month although the gas EAC remains too high by 10-15%.
Updated my EAC figures over the last year - electricity is accurate gas not so accurate
