Hi all.

Our electricity meter appears to be in a 'frozen' state for the past 3 to 4 weeks. The issue only came to light when I came to submit a meter reading last week only to notice the reading didn't appear to have moved on from the previous months'.

The LCD screen cycles in a loop displaying the following:

06920kWh, 00000kWh, £21.02, 06920kWh, 00000kWh, £21.02 etc.etc.

The LCD screen also permanently displays the letter 'A' in the top left hand corner.

I have reported the issue to an Energy Specialist who said they would pass this on to the relevant team.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

As we pay for our electricity upon receipt of bill rather than by direct debit I am anxious to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Any advice would be welcome.

@retrotecchie The SMETS 1 are having 'patches' put on them to make them smart again so they should be fully functioning again soon.
@JohnT & @RightEyed - I understand that if you pay on receipt of bill at the moment, it may be a bit concerning if you're not billed or billed to estimates. Would you consider fixing your direct debit at an average of your previous bills until the meters are fixed? Just an idea 😊

I am having the exact same problem as #RightEyed .
My electric meter is rotating similar readings.
Neither IHD or Ivie app can pick up the electric meter, although both pick up the gas meter OK.
The EonNext app shows 'no data' from 19th April onwards from the electric meter, but gas meter readings are OK
There is a trouble shooter on the EonNext web site I used at https://www.eonnext.com/help/smart. I typed in the MPAN and the reply was that the meter isn't connected correctly to the network, and that the staff were aware and working hard to deal with it. (Or works to that effect). So EonNext are not receiving readings from my electric meter, but are having no problems with the gas meter.
The energy specialist I dealt with said an appointment will be made, but it may take 8-10 weeks to happen!

Strangely, this happened immediately after the routine smart readings were taken on 18 of this month.

My big issue is that I am anticipating estimated bills from now on and am worried they will estimate on the high side despite the extreme economising I have been practicing since I started this more expensive contract last year.

To my post above I'll add that it is the same meter as #RightEyed , but the 10A version, The letter 'A' also appears in the top left corner of the display and there is also an open switch symbol above the reading.
All green lights flash every 5 seconds except for 'MESH'.

This has all been reported to EonNext, but does anyone here have any ideas what the problem may be?

Having two Eon customers report essentially the same identical issue is indeed troubling. This implies a big issue (with this particular meter brand) that hopefully will be picked up by the online staff especially as the gas meter reads are still feeding through.

EDMI SMETS1 meters can't be migrated by DCC and their newer models are not much better either. If I was an energy supplier, I'd cut my losses and replace the lot of them. With non-smart meters...they cause far fewer problems. Failing that, L&G units.

Hi all.

Just a quick update ..

As well as telephoning E.ON Next to report the problem I also reached out to them via Twitter. A member of staff did pick up on my message and said they would ensure the problem was raised with the apprpriate team. I also sent them a short video of my 'faulty' meter to demonstrate the issue which they said would be added to my account notes.

Thanks for the update. As you see from the comments above, I am in the same position as you and am not expecting anything to be done for 8 - 10 weeks.

Thanks for your response.
My meter is SMETS2
I pay by fixed DD and my account is well in credit. My concern is that I have been seriously economising since I renewed my contract last year on a higher tariff than before. I am anticipating estimated billing until the meter is fixed and as long as these estimated bills are calculated using past recent usage taking into account the weather is warming up, then there should be no problem. Do you know if this is how estimated bills are calculated?
