A good home made pie is always very nice. Apple, or apple and blackberry, were always one of the staples up here. I can remember my nanna having 'baking' days twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Aye, this is the most amazing diagram I've seen in a while!! ๐คฃ
They are up the cane - so I'll make sure to trim them down โ. Off to the garden centre for some feed I go @DebF_EONNext & @retrotecchie ๐โโ๏ธ - want anything?
@Tommysgirl my in laws love Kippers...MIL comes back with loads when she goes away ๐คฃ. Lets keep them to that side of the family, deffo not for me ๐คฎ
On my occasional travels up the M6, if I can get as far north as Tebay Services, there is a purveyor of the most excellent kippers there. I do like a nice smoked split. Not so fond of supermarket pre-packed kippers though. They always seem to taste of the plastic they are wrapped in and that yellow colour looks really artificial.
I've been to Barton Grange Garden Centre. My late Aunt lived in Garstang and it was a favourite haunt of hers.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Tebay ๐. My most favourite food ( your word is the correct description) purveyor. Crazy isn't it going to a motorway service station for excellent food. We go 2-3 times a year. Your late aunt had very good taste. The farm shop is very good ๐. Fleetwood is a great place to go if you want decent smoked kippers. In fact smoked most things.
I've missed @Mailman recipes. Sounds very interesting. Can you point me in the direction of them. Love Italian food. Truthfully I love all food. ๐
Your wish is my command. Quick, easy and very tasty. Not a slow cooker job, but a 1-pan recipe that we have once a week - a regular go-to store cupboard meal requiring little or no preparation. Use lazy garlic if you need to (same with the chilli) and use any pasta....If fact bought 4 tins of anchovies at LIDL on Saturday as they were very cheap.

Pies were used in Tudor royal residences because they avoided the need for plates when feeding the lesser mortals! ๐ฆ
Edit the emoji is supposed to be an owl - I'm not impressed!

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but Iโll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

I remember learning at school many moons ago that Henry VIII liked pies, but I didn't know they were used in the royal residences to avoid the need for plates. Thanks for the information, that's a really interesting fact to learn.๐

Reason: Adding info
Similar to the reason why Cornish Pasties have the thick crimped edge. It's not for eating, but a 'handle' to hold it by so the tin miners didn't have to wash their grubby paws at lunchtimes. They could eat the pasty and then just throw away the 'handle'.
