I am eligible for the £67 energy payment and it has been credited to my account. This is the last of six.
However, in the previous five months the £66/£67 has been deducted from the DD. e.g. DD £135, DD taken £135 less £66/£67 according to whichrebate applies.
This month, yes, £67 has been credited, but the full DD has been taken without a £67 reduction. Below is a copy and paste from the website and contrary to what has happened this month. i.e. My DD has not been reduced by £67.
How the Energy Bills Support Scheme will affect you.
Your Direct Debit will be reduced by £67 per month for 6 months from 1 October, however you should leave your Direct Debit at the recommended amount. Find out more about the Energy Bills Support Scheme
I would expect the normal DD to be reduced this month but as mine hasn't yet been taken I don't know what they're going to take. It may be something to do with the expected price rise in April, how much credit/debit in your account or a combination of both. Either way, they should have notified you of the rise in advance, with an explanation, as you rightly expected your sixth and final DD discount this month. Maybe one for customer service.
Almost £400 in credit without the DD just taken. When that hits my account it will be over £500 in credit. Next bill due around the 20th.
It's not surprising that these companies are holding billions of pounds of customers' money and still want more!
I contacted C.S., about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. "Nothing to do with us, it's the billing department, I'll e-mail them."
Yes, I am aware of the option to "apply", thanks Joe. Tha doesn't guarantee a refund though. A more sensible DD should be calculated intitially to prevent having to beg for a refund. We are hopefully entering the less energy hungry months now/soon when a credit balance should be built up for next winter. Not start those months with a £500 account in credit!
Simplest fix would be a quick call to Customer Services and ask them to switch you from Fixed Monthly DD to Variable DD on receipt of bill. That way, they'll just take payments from your credit rather than a fixed amount monthly, and then just bill you for the energy you use once your credit has been used up.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Your opinion, to which you are entitled. I was just offering mine. You chose to pay manually which costs a lot more than paying by DD. Getting on for £200 a year. Again, your choice but not for everyone.
