It would be handy if for the energy saving hour if the emails were sent out 48 hrs in advance to ask you if you want to take part. 24 hrs isn’t enough to plan for dinner etc that easily.

It would indeed be handy but notification from the National Grid ESO has invariably taken place only on the day before - in the afternoon to be precise - so very difficult for any supplier to give even 24 hours notice. Recently I've received emails within 2 hours of the event being confirmed by National Grid at 1630 the day before the test event commences.
I'd prefer a totally different system. That every house who opts in should have "interruptible" loads such as their immersion heater, EV charge point, and one extra upstairs ring main, billed a bit less always, and rigged to be interrupted for as much as three quarters of the time, delivering cheaper power in unpredictable bursts of minutes at a time, according to a preference slider from "cheapest" to "fastest" which the household can poke from time to time. That is, they can occasionally run a fan heater or EV charge point for free for the least popular times, under automatic interruption, and they can at any time move their EV slider from "cheaper" to "faster" to get an interruptible such as an EV to be "ON" for >90% of the time, though still available to be cut in preference to starting or needing on standby the dirtiest sorts of backup generator.
Such seperation of multiple "interruptible" circuits would avoid most inconvenience because the cooker being on a different circuit has a different slider, which you could leave on "fastest".

Reason: spelling "move", then to address the thread topic
These are very interesting and well thought points. As @Mailman said, we do try our best to notify our customers as soon as we can when the notice is given.
I would perhaps try to download the app on your phone or your email branch, such as gmail or outlook and you will be able to receive a notification.
