I reported my gas meter wasn’t moving back in December after receiving my monthly bill, I had only used 2 units in a month, so I checked the meter and it doesn’t move. Hopefully the meter is being replaced on Tuesday, my question is how will my usage be calculated over this time period, I have asked the question directly but I keep getting brushed aside saying they will deal with it when the meter is working. Obviously in the current financial climate this concerns me greatly that we are going to get a huge bill. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
it will be estimated using whatever information is available. Obviously you can make your own estimate and negotiate an acceptable figure, with the ombudsman as a back stop.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
If its any consolation I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me with an appointment date. Same situation as you. Mines been broken since November. I've hardly used any gas so if they try to bill us using estimates when the eventually get an engineer out im going to hit the roof. An estimate is exactly that... a guess at what you have used. I estimate I've used hardly anything

Another reason to grab regular usage figures (in kWh) for the situation that has arisen for yourself and the OP. I tabulate daily usage figures quickly via the IHD so feel that I am in a good position to respond to a failing meter situation should it arise and can predict usage forecasts with a reasonably high degree of precision. Going daily might be seen as overkill for many but there again there are posts from folk that do have estimated reads on bills (with a working meter) due to not submitting a customer read when needed.
@Colette39 Hey 😀 I can see this was posted a while ago - just checking in to see if there's any updates on if the appointment was successful and your billing was corrected?
