ive tried applying for the home warm discount for months on website and wont let me apply, ive called just eon and they gave me number to call 0800 107 8002, no -one ever there to help (please call back later been trying for hours now ) ive always got the home warm discount as my husband is disabled and we recieve qualifying benefits this is getting beyond a joke now as with cost of living the way it is we need any help we can get.
there is no application process any more. If you are in receipt of qualifying benefits AND live in a high energy cost home you will receive the payment.
Disability benefits no longer confers eligibility - the intention is to widen the number of recipients and to pay it to those in need.
The transition to the new system has created great uncertainty but apparently payments are now starting to be made.
Why do you need to apply? Unless you live in Scotland. For everyone else who qualifies the discount is automatic.
Have you had your letter through from the DWP? Do you get the Guaranteed Element of Pension Credit? If so, you don't need to worry. If you are in the 'Broader Group, you will get the discount if your property has been assessed by the Valuation Office Agency as being a high heat cost property.
Being disabled doesn't qualify any more. The fact you have had the discount before doesn't mean you will be eligible this year. The system is completely different.
