Anyone know much about this?
As I only have electric in my property, no gas or oil, will I get this?
In my last property we had no gas but did have oil, so I would have got it. Having now moved to solely electric, we use our multifuel burners for heating, therefore coal n logs ( as the electric radiators would be silly money).
Do you reckon I'll get it, based on the fact I won't feature on their gas database?
So long as you are physically off the gas grid. If you have a gas meter but choose not to use gas, that's not enough to qualify, if the option is there.
AFP applies to all off gas grid fuels...coal, oil, Calor or biomass.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
If there is a gas main in your street and neighbouring properties have connection to mains gas, you possibly won't qualify. You need to be physically off the grid for gas. Also, if you have the ability to heat your home with electricity but chose not to, you will also not qualify.
The AFP is for those for whom mains gas or electric heating is not an option.
Ah, OK, we have central heating, radiators and a boiler all powered by electric. No gas on the Lane, its rural. Seems a bit unfair that we may then only qualify for the £66 a month payment, whilst having to use a lot more electric to heat the house. Whereas if we had oil heating, we'd get the £66 a month, plus the £200 payment. Ah well, guess we'll just see what arrives in the account.
We have a thread about the Alternative Fuel Payment here that you might find helpful we are keeping updated as soon as we get any new information, @retrotecchie is on the ball with this one as he like me powers his heating with magic dust ✨
