I do that, and then get a bill for 1st of the month, as you say. Unfortunately, I also get a bill based on their meter reading for the 22nd of the month. So I get two bills every month, which doesn't really matter because I pay a standard amount on 1st month by DD. You choose the payment date yourself online without reference to a human being.

at this moment i have 2 bills as well, which for me is frustrating, I have vba script whih open pdf file and take usage from bill and send this to data base, probably I will need change this do this twice a month

@GSimpson I appreciate you taking the time to give us an update about your query and I can totally understand why this can be a very frustrating thing to sort out. Assuming you have a credit standard meter, have you tried to do it the other way around ? Send in the meter readings around the 20th of the month and see if the invoice will sync with the direct debit ?

Although, if you have a smart meter, we will need to change the approach to this matter entirely.

    I hope this helps! 😄

If I send a reading in around the 20th of the month, why would I want a bill dated over a week later? The easy way out would be for eon to stop taking my smart meter reading on 23rd of the month, and take it on the 1st instead. Then I will get a monthly bill in line with the calendar. Why is that so difficult?

When I switched to Eon Next I set the wheels in motion on 14th September 2021 and lo and behold my switch was (as anticipated) some 17 days later on 1st October 2021 and meter reads have coincided with the 1st of each calendar month since then. This has been the only time in the numerous switches/SOLRs that I have had in the last 5 years that the billing/meter read date has coincidentally fallen on the first of the month. Of course you can always change the DD date (if on a fixed DD) to the first of the month but I believe that the statement generation date will be on the anniversary day of when you become a customer of Eon Next (or anyone else for that matter - at least it has been for a plethora of suppliers I have bounced between). Additional statements (and possibly additional transactions via DD) will usually be triggered if additional customer reads are submitted at any other date other than this anniversary date.

From the 'aggregate' suppliers point of view the system (via DCC) will be creaking at the seams if every single customer has meter reads (either smart or manual) scheduled for the 1st of every month rather than spread out evenly over the month. Perhaps the systems in place (at all suppliers - not just Eon Next) makes this adjustment (reads scheduled for a day of customer choosing) impossible? I don't know. 🤐

@GSimpson As an energy specialist, I can tell you for my personal experience, that there is the option to change the billing calendar on the smart meters. E.ON Next tried its best to meet the needs of our customers and to facilitate them when and where possible.
Unfortunately we cannot do it here in the community. This is something that our customer service can help you with. The changes can take up to 72 hours to be in place. After that I would advice you to get back in touch with us to make sure that the changes have actually been made after we send the input to the system.

Thank you Mailman. If only I'd had your foresight. Unfortunately my transfer to Eon was involuntary. Given little choice, but things could be worse. At least the people on the other end of the phone are lovely when I need them (as are the "staff" on here). :-)
