@meldrewreborn Farnham in Surrey. At one point EE was the weakest network but things have improved with them, coverage with the other networks is fine in this area. As you say, shouldn't they have checked coverage before installation?
Depends where in Farnham. Coverage in Wrecclesham was almost non existent on any network.
In the southern half of the UK all smart communications are facilitated by Telefonica (O2) so unless they have physical coverage, all bets are off. In many rural areas, companies 'code share' on each other's infrastructure so in cases where O2 used to share with Vodafone or EE but they have turned off 2g/3g as has happened in many parts of West Wales, bye bye communication and bye bye smart meters.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Shouldn't be too bad there. River Lane down by the Wrecclesham roundabout was a nightmare. Our office alarm system used a Vodafone module for the security monitoring and it often dropped off line. If we needed to make calls, we'd have to stand out in the car park to get any signal.
@meldrewreborn Spotted a connected smart with comms hub flashing away about 150m from where I live. Sadly their meter door had vanish in the gales and fortunately for me left everything exposed to see when walking the dogs.
As I wrote before, neighbours can provide the proof of whether there is coverage or not. And the closer the better, although we all know have coverage can drop off inside a home where coverage exists outside.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Just to confirm still nothing has been done by E On and I'm still living the dream with two dumb meters. They have been ignoring my emails now when I ask for an update...
Another update to saga of the smart meter installation at my late father's house..
Comms unit was finally fitted several weeks ago and the electricity meter is showing on the IHD. The gas meter didn't show on the IHD but we were told it would appear half an hour or so later! Surprise, surprise it didn't, and still hasn't.
When I check the online account we no longer have an active gas meter and can't even enter manual readings!
The new gas meter was active on the account and we were submitting manual readings up until the comms unit was fitted, now it's gone completely.
Spoke to an eon rep over a week ago who said this would be an easy and quick fix, nothing has happened.
The house has now been sold and we'd like all this resolved before it changes ownership next month.
