Hi, like other forum members I would like to know how EON establishes how someone is eligible for AFP. I have read somewhere that the process involves using post codes, this however would put me at a disadvantage as all my neighbours who share the same post code are on-grid for gas, whilst I am not. Anyone from EON like to comment?
Xoserve maintain a database of all off gas grid addresses in the UK. That's how they do it. By knowing you don't have an MPAN for a gas meter. Postcodes are not that accurate.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie If Xoserve already know I don't have a gas meter why is this on the gov.uk website?
A small minority of customers, including those living in park homes or on houseboats with no direct electricity supplier, will need to apply to the domestic AFP Alternative Fund to receive payment. An application portal on gov.uk will open later in February, alongside further information on which households will need to apply. Those on the gas grid but without a gas connection and using alternative fuels as their main heating source will also likely need to take this route.
Morning All, just to let you all know that we have started making payments to accounts that we have been informed are eligible. Payments should be made by the end of Feb. Information about how payments will be made are in the initial post ๐

From what I gather from the MoneySavingExpert Forum, being in a mains gas area but not connected to the gas is the problem.
Automatic payment The majority of the houses in your postcode must not be connected to the gas main and not using electric for heating
Manual payment: Have to apply manually online when it opens sometime in February
We will have been provided information on who is eligible from the government body BEIS. There is no register for alternative fuel homes so the government is using that being in an area off the gas grid, and where electric heating is not predominant, as the best possible indicator that you use alternative fuels. This does mean that some people may be missed or some people may receive a payment when they aren't eligible. If you think you are eligible but don't receive a payment by the end of Feb from your supplier then you should visit gov.uk and apply through their online portal when it opens.
Hi Bennie
thanks for reply suggesting I check different ways ๐๐ป
But what really helped was when I checked my online account and discovered that the payment had been made 3 days ago ๐
Any idea why we are customers are not being informed when this is rolled out. It can make a big difference to some people who are really struggling ๐ฌ

Hi @TwoAkers, your feedback is very valuable. Unfortunately I don't have an answer on why some people have been informed and others not. One of our goals as a company is being able to become a digital company as part of our ethos towards sustainability.
The online account should be perceived as the customer best friends, where all the main information is directed. Of course we do tend to send emails out for big announcements but at times we do make mistakes too and try to improve that. That's why your feedback is so valuable to us.
I am glad to hear that you did receive your payment. ๐
