Just to let you know that there has been a bit of an update with some more info that has been added to this thread. We now know how this will be paid to our customers 😊

Hi Jenny
You have asked exactly the question I am wondering about. How DOES EON get to know that my heating is oil and so expect the alternative fuel payment.
As far as I can see you haven't had a rely to this. Have you found out anything?
Thanks
Neville
You need to refer to the link (to the government's published advice) posted above by @retrotecchie.
Alternative fuel means more than heating oil.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

They just need to know your heating can't possibly be 'mains gas', is all. I.e, you do not have an MPAN/gas meter and are not on the gas grid. How you ultimately heat your home is irrelevant. Anything other than mains gas means oil, LPG, coal or biomass.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

How does EON get to know that I have only oil-fired heating? How can they make the AFP without knowing this?
Thanks
Neville
Someone told me they go by knowing what areas or post codes have gas. I suppose that they assume that anyone would have gas if it is available because it is or was so much cheaper. There is a link somewhere here for people who live in a gas supplied area but have oil, to fillout a form and apply directly for the AFP.
Care to share? Most of the locals in the village I've spoken to so far were emailed vouchers or received a credit to their banks yesterday...
The first post in this thread has been updated with the details
How will it be paid?
Direct Debit / Receipt of Bill Customers - The £200 will be added to your electricity account
Prepayment Customers - Will receive a voucher for the £200
Smart PAYG Customer - Will receive the £200 direct on to their electricity meter.
No sign of a credit to my account yet, and when it does land there, from looking elsewhere I think it’s 10 working days from requesting a refund of a credit on your account to actually getting it.
