The Gumment never make these things easy, that's for sure.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I read the guff (out of curiosity as my payment was automatic) and was slightly surprised to see they were asking for 'proof' of spending more than £200 on 'alternative fuels' after September 22. So what if you bought in 2000 litres in, say, August and then don't order another top up until next August? I'm assuming common sense would prevail there too, but wanting proof you spent the money after September seems a bit daft to me.
The same with LPG. I used 47kg Calor bottles for the hob at my last place. I bought two new ones when I moved in, and they lasted me almost four years. No way would I have been able to show 'proof'.
I hope it soon comes through for you, but you're right about the hoops...
Exactly what I said about the totally arbitrary September date!
Just out-of interest I phoned the helpline to ask if I could add further documentation (receipt with cost and supply company). A very helpful young lady said send an email to BEIS (email address below and use the subject line "Further Documentation" and the reference number given by the portal. I was told to put my name, date of birth, and to quote the reference number again within the body of the email. I did that and added a line to say I was adding a further document (attached) for their consideration.
Just done mine.
Thanks for the heads up that the portal was live.
Was relatively painless. Downloaded last invoice from oil supplier for last delivery and filled the rest of the details in.
But would agree that some folks will struggle unless reasonable computer literate.
Just an update...
My email with additional documentation has been acknowledged and linked to my application.
Same here. The chap at BEIS was very helpful and emailed me back within 24 hours to say the additional information had been attached to my original application.
I'm so glad to read that the portal is now open for those who didn't receive it automatically, hopefully the process hasn't been too difficult and 🤞 you all start to see some payments soon 😊

I have oil heating but haven't received the payment. I have asked Eon if I will get it but the response is always unclear. Can you tell me if I should still wait to see if anything comes from Eon or if I now need to make a claim via the govt portal? Thanks.

Once you have entered your Post Code, the portal will tell you if you are eligible. Remember to have a digital copy of your last bill ready to attach. Good luck. 👍
