My IHD Suddenly stopped showing my readings near the end of December. It becomes stuck on the screen saying "Connecting to Smart Metre.' However, I have checked on my Eon account and the smart metre is still sending readings to Eon.
I have not changed supplier. The IHD cannot be any closer to the metre and I have tried resetting it and turning it on and off etc. multiple times. Does anyone have any ideas why this has happened and how to fix it please?
Support from your supplier is probably limited to 12 months after installation. You can try customer services but if your expectations are low then you'll be less disapointed in the end.
There is a thread on how to source a replacement IHD (at your expense) but avoid buying second hand as IHD's are exclusively paired to one set of meters , and they are most unlikely to work
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
You can try turning it off, leaving it for 24 hours, and then turning it on again, but less close to the meter. 10 feet is probably optimum.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@Abbie How did you get along? Before you go and buy a new one, it might be worth it to see if perhaps we can reconnect it through our system. The customer service can support you in that. IHD's can be very temperamental at times. Just a quick question, did you change tariffs lately or perhaps a fixed contract ended ?
@Abbie No luck, so far. I haven't changed tariffs or suppliers recently; it stopped working out of the blue.
I would love to get in touch with your customer service team. Would you be able to send me a link to live chat or a phone number please? I've been trying to find these and keep being sent round in circles on Eon's help pages.
