My gas meter has stopped sending readings to Eon. It was working fine up to October and since then and since then it hasn't sent any reading. The IHD seems to be stuck on 40p and doesn't change. (its been like it months now)
The gas meter incorporates a small battery and sends data (every 30 minutes) to the communications hub attached to the electric meter which then sends data to the supplier via DCC and to your IHD. If (when) these batteries fail then the meter cannot be read.
If you can get readings from the actual meter then you should lodge these with the supplier via your on line account. If you can 't get the readings then the meter is pretty much caput. Send an email to the supplier with gas meter failure in the subject line and your account details in the main part of the message plus any other detail you wish to add.
Suppliers don't seem to act quickly on this sort of issue - you are after all still able to use gas- but it does mean your usage might have to estimated for the period of failure, which is less than desirable.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
In the meantime, submit manual readings online or on the app to prevent estimates being used.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I am still able to read the meter manually, ive tried emailing Eon but don't really get anywhere.
I'll try emailing again. Thanks
To be totally honest you'll get quicker and more accurate answers from us. If the meter is recording properly but the data isn't getting to your IHD or E.On next then there might be a fault with the communications hub. It has series of lights which flash . If you can tell us for each light its label and the colour of the light and frequency of flashing a diagnosis might emerge.

The same thing happened with my gas meter last April. I've had to send manual readings in since then. I've spoken to Eon-Next Customer Services twice on the phone about it. They told me my gas meter is a Version 1 and is "no longer compliant" and I am on the waiting list for a replacement meter. They advised me in October to keep sending in manual readings because they have a backlog of customers waiting for new meter installations, and could not give me an approximate date when mine will be installed, so keep sending the manual readings in to avoid overestimated bills.😃

Its great isnt it! My meter is version 2 according to that website though, just seems so strange.
@DanielB
It is strange if yours is version 2. Hopefully @meldrewreborn and @retrotecchie will be able to diagnose the problem when they know how the lights are behaving. They are both really good at solving these sorts of issues, so fingers crossed for you.🤞😀
