I have contacted you several times about my smart meter not sending readings, and I would like to know what, if anything, is being done to resolve this problem.
The forum might be able to help - but we do not have any access to messages to customer services.
If you try the citizens advice smart meter checker and then report back here with the results, with pictures of your meter(s), description of each flashing light on the communications hub and you general location we might be able to help - no guarantees.
on the latest government data, 15% of smart meters were working in traditional (DUMB) mode, so you are far from alone.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
That suggests between 13 and 17% not playing ball so the figure of 15% or roughly 1 out of every 6 installed is about where we stand right now.
Rollout is currently around 52% of the entire customer base in the UK, so slightly more than half.
I can't think of any other industry where a 1 in 6 failure rate on anything so fundamental would be even remotely acceptable. Even NASAs statistics for a failure on a manned mission into space where lives were lost is only 1 in 67. Smart metering ain't rocket science, is it?!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Started having issue with in home display(IHD) not showing gas use, reset IHD and gas then shown. This kept happening and then electricity stopped being displayed. Resetting IHD doesn’t do anything and readings not being sent to EON, I now have to send readings manually. Tried contacting EON but poor levels of customer service
@UnhappyCustomer I am Benedetta, one of the community coordinators, can we please have some more details around your question ? Is this based on the IHD (in home display) or the actual meter connected to the pipes? Happy to help 😁
@UnhappyCustomer try the citizens advise smart meter checker. Report back with results , photos of meters, and description of led flashing for each plus frequency. Then we can tell you what’s going on.
On my account you say you are having difficulty getting my smart meter readings.
My electricity readings are getting through to the DCC but my gas readings seem to be very erratic. The Bright app highlights this. WAN, HAN (lights show communicating) and IHD are working Does anyone know how I can get this investigated? I'm not a WhatsApp user. I've tried phoning customer service during the week, no one answered.
@WizzyWigg
as the readings get though sometime the presumption must be that everything is set up right.
The gas mater supplies it reading via wireless to the communications hub and then onwards. Its likely to a fault between meter and the hub. The meter is powered by a long life battery and these are known to fail, Eventually your meter might be unable to measure at all if the battery fails even more. However, suppliers are reluctant to exchange the meter (only solution!) when they are still measuring correctly, the loss of smart function to you is not deemed that important.
But you can but try. Send an email with" smart gas meter not sending reading " as the message title and yo detail and description of the problem in the message text. But if you work on the basis that nothing will be done you'll not be disappointed, and if something is done you'll be delighted.
