To me its unacceptable but that's a standard response, although it can and often is much quicker.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@WizzyWigg
as the readings get though sometime the presumption must be that everything is set up right.
The gas mater supplies it reading via wireless to the communications hub and then onwards. Its likely to a fault between meter and the hub. The meter is powered by a long life battery and these are known to fail, Eventually your meter might be unable to measure at all if the battery fails even more. However, suppliers are reluctant to exchange the meter (only solution!) when they are still measuring correctly, the loss of smart function to you is not deemed that important.
But you can but try. Send an email with" smart gas meter not sending reading " as the message title and yo detail and description of the problem in the message text. But if you work on the basis that nothing will be done you'll not be disappointed, and if something is done you'll be delighted.
Thanks for your help. If it does fail how on earth will anyone know how much gas I've used. Sounds totally crazy. Particularly the way things are and the reliance on technology. Email sent.
It's surprising but to them its a tiny matter - not to you though. When the readings cannot be obtained they will eventually replace the meter. An estimate - presumably negotiated, will be used instead.
Some meters still have bellows inside (go by size) which mechanically measure the consumption. In that case accurate data would be obtainable once the meter is serviced. Other (much smaller meters) do not use bellows and as far as i know have no method of internally recording the consumption in the absence of battery power.

Thanks again. Unbelievable! Happy to take the money but not to give the service. Estimated bills are not accurate enough. Paying for someone to guess at a price is not the way to do things. Also how does one negotiate as it is impossible to contact anybody.
I really don't know but to my knowledge nobody has come on here to complain about how they were eventually assessed - make of that what you will.
Wouldn't it be more cost effective to prevent a problem rather than wait for it to happen and eventually be assessed. This would definitely promote good customer service and save E.ON money. Sorry I know this is only a tiny matter to E.ON.

How dare you have the temerity to suggest a logical policy!

Could be having almost 50 years technical troubleshooting for both small and large companies. Also having an interest in software engineering (very logical). I loath both time and money wasting. Thanks again for your advice and support. 😎
