Hi - I have a pre-payment meter in a house that I moved into a few months ago due to previous owners. Seems impossible to get a credit account just now.
Yesterday there was Approx £74 on the meter so took card to paypoint and added £100 (£50 X 2). When key was put back in to meter the new credit was not showing. Took the key back to the PP shop with the receipts and they say there is £200 on the card. No matter what I do the meter still not showing the new credit, now down to £66.
Spoke with Eon support after 30 min queuing and she did not call back which is very annoying.
There are no error codes on the meter, we have topped up many times before and normally the credit is visible when the key is inserted.
How does this get resolved? it is not smart PAYG just a basic PAYG meter so no online option.
Within 1 week we will have no electricity as things stand.
Wait until the meter credit drops to below £55 and then try again. The maximum upload a meter can take at any time is £255. Until the total credit on the meter and the key are less than £255, then the credit on the key cannot be transferred to the meter.
If you are planning to try and shovel as much credit on as you can in anticipation of April's 20% price increases, then don't bother. That trick no longer works. Every time there is a tariff increase, the next time you top up then the updated tariff information is applied to the meter from the date of the increase. Your meter will then 'back bill you' for the difference in unit price. Martin Lewis used to push this trick but even he has now corrected the information.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
