Hi, we're on NextFlex Eco 7 paying a day rate of 47.75p/kWh and night rate of 16.8p/kWh. The normal (non-Eco 7) rate is 35.4p/kWh. Given that our night rate usage is only a quarter of the day rate (633/2684 over the past year) I'm thinking it might be an idea to apply for a smart meter (and thereby lose the Eco 7 as it seems you can't have both). Would that make sense?
If you already have an Economy 7 meter then you could have it swapped for an Economy 7 smart meter. Straight swap.
Better still, just change your tariff to non eco 7. Both your day and night rates would be the same, so it's simple either way.
Personally, I would avoid a smart meter at all costs.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie thanks - I don't really want a smart meter either - I've managed to resist them up to now. Good to know I can just switch to non-eco 7. Would that lower tariff still apply though? (We don't have gas if that's relevant.)
You would be on a single rate standard Next Flex tariff. You would still need to give day and night readings but they would both be charged at the same 34-odd pence at any time.
I have been looking into my day and night rates for Economy 7 due to i cannot have a smart meter due to the location of my meter i have now changed onto a non Eco 7 tarriff thanks for your help.
