Another cracking drama was the excellent Unforgotten (2015-2021) staring Nicola Walker - she heads a team that look at cold murder cases where the misper turns up after many years - hence the title. Absorbing and one that you won't fall asleep during.
@Mailman YES!! I loved Unforgotten. I recently watched Baptiste which was along similar lines although I had to put the subtitles on for when he spoke French, it had me gripped! It's one of those that was a bit slow but you can't stop watching as you HAD to see what happened next.
@Mailman I haven't heard of The Bridge, what is that one about?
The Bridge in question is the stunning Oresund bridge connecting Sweden and Demark by a combined road/rail link (longest in Europe). So the Oresund crops up in all of the series televised so far. Cops from both the countries involved - great performances from the lead detectives.
inspector Lindley or DCI banks are worth looking out for. But have you ever considered how murders in real life have much simpler scenarios?
on talking pictures channel I just recorded S1E1 of “waking the dead” with Trevor eve. They had “public eye” with Alfred Burke on as well recently plus the maigret from the BBC in B/W.
talking pictures is on most platforms and it’s free.

Inspector Lynley was very good. There are some new ones too: Karen Pirie, Ridley (with Adrian Dunbar from Line of Duty) and McDonald and Dodds (with Jason Watkins).

Another drama series from the early 2000s you might like, (not a detective drama, but along the same lines) is Judge John Deed with the excellent Martin Shaw as a High Court Judge who presides over all kinds of cases; takes on the hierarchy and Government departments, and is rather fond of the ladies.😃👨⚖️
