Connecting Smart Meter
-
My dad's Duet II smart meter for the last month is saying "Connecting to Smart Meter", it's 2ft from the electric meter.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? @PeterT_EONNext could you help? -

@CollsMonk
The in home display is not connecting to the actual meter. This is supposed to happen via the communications hub attached to the electric meter.
Can you describe what each light is doing, eg flashing and frequency?Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Sorry for the late response @meldrewreborn I've been away in the sun...
On the comms hub (Trilliant):
WAN is Red
HAN is flashing green
PWR is Green
Thanks -
@CollsMonk
If WAN is red then the meter is not communicating with the communications company and in all likelihood its the comms hub that has failed. The flashing green HAN light means that the meter cannot communicate with the Duet II display.
Firstly, check to see if your smart meter is actually visible on the network - likely it won't be.

Then turn off the Duet, leave it for a few hours and then turn it back on again. Chances are it won't work, and even if it does, likely that tariff information and prices will be completely wrong.
Try that and then get back to us.Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
Update @retrotecchie
I've checked and it says the meter is in smart mode:
Left the Duel off all night and when switch on got:
Lost Network, please contact CS if problem persists", then "Connecting to smart meter..." -
Do your bills actually show any smart readings? If so, then the meter is working in which case, your best option is an email to hi@eonnext.com outlining your problems, but non working IHD units are very low down on their list of priorities, I'm afraid.
