Welcome to the community 👋
This sounds like the previous occupant perhaps hasn't advised us that they have left the property, in these circumstances we may ask for this for security purposes to ensure that we are not closing an account or changing liability incorrectly. We might ask for a tenancy agreement or proof of ownership to confirm you are liable for the property and to confirm the date your liability started 😊 It also ensures that you do not get billed for the previous occupants usage if they have left with an outstanding balance.Last edited by DebF_EONNext; 20-12-22 at 08:54. Some may try to evade liability by pretending to have left. The title deed will not be immediately so the solicitors bill, which tends to turn up very quickly, may suffice.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio.
