That freezer is 'offline use'. Veggies mostly, which are happy at -8°C. The freezer we keep day to day stuff in is indoors and runs at -14°C. That's a 60/40 fridge freezer so only has a small-ish freezer compartment but is used for chips, meats and other 'spoilable' stuff. As the capacity is quite low, it tends to be rather quick turnaround, so no long term storage.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Energy shift 12/12/2022 Reduction 86%, earned £1.92. A vast improvement on previous energy shifts, again both well over 80% earned26p and 23p.
Apart from turning power off at the Mains s/w , nothing else i can do.
Hey everyone. I understand it is very confusing for you all (and me) so I have reached out to the team who are leading the project and I hope to have some clear answers for you?
Are there any questions that you would like me to ask specifically?
@Beki_EONNext
Yes, see comment above.
Question to the team.... Would you advise a couple in their 80s to sit in a house in freezing conditions, only the fridge/freezer on, all for a payment of 23p or 26p having saved nearly 90% of their power use. If it was your Gran and Grandad what would your advice be ?
Unless they have all electric heating, no need to sit in the cold. Gas fired central heating needs electricity, but not enough to warrant turning the heating off to save electricity.
About 15Wh for the control electronics and perhaps another 50 to 100Wh for the fans and circulator pump on a typical combo boiler.
a home doesn’t go instantly cold if the heating goes off. Obviously there is an incentive to cut usage in the test periods and people will make their own choices about whether to participate or not. I continue to be surprised about the numbers of people who say they’ve left refrigeration devices on when I would regard that as No 1 choice.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Plus the energy shift is all about peak demand...cooking, boiling the kettle, running the tumble drier or washer, charging the car, etc. Usage over and above the normal 'baseline load'.
Not about how threadbare a 'hair shirt' you need to be wearing.
its about cutting demand in the prescribed period with little inconvenience to occupants - or as much as they are prepared to tolerate. Everything has a price they say.
Ohh I can answer this one. There has been adjustments to the requirements to compensate for the colder weather and other factors are also included in there too.
@Hussar99 It's about reducing your usage for a limited time period, and so you can hear your home throughout the rest of the day.
My grandparents were very eco conscious and they were also very thrifty when it came to paying anyone any money. They would have been extremely low users of energy - ven right up to their 90s, religiously switching off everything from the plugs and closing all doors to keep the heat in the their home.
