As per the title, this can’t be an accurate reading surely? Especially as we’re being more conscious with use of electricity and gas? I get that we are all expecting a price increase but mines jumped up to close to £22 a day over both G/E..
Can you give us separate splits for 'leccy and gas, rather than totals?
That sort of figure is my total usage for December so far, I.e 8 days.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Go round your house/flat. isolate any electric oven/hob at the wall and check if you have a hot water tank you haven't accidentally turned an immersion heater on. That flash rate on the impulse light should be once every ten or twenty seconds for a normal baseline consumption.
Check also you haven't left any 'big ticket' items like electric fan heaters or oil fired radiators on by mistake.

Hard to give more advice without knowing a little more of your circumstances:
OK what type of house have you got? Any kids still at home? What region of the country do you live in? What is your themostat set at?
Mine (for comparison today) Bungalow, 2 adults only, NE of England (been very cold here today - barely above freezing), stat has been set at 17/17.5 C from 0800 till 2130
Usage today so far Gas 44.59 kWh Electricity 8.10 kWh (that has included 1 wash + heat pump tumble dry, heated throw been on for much of the day and electric blanket now on for another 30 mins.)
from Derby so again been pretty chilly today, 6y/o and 8monther at home so not viable to have it too cold. Heating set to kick in when temp drops to 18 inside.
I did find out my oil rad has been on for 24 hours though 🤦🏻 this could be the cause in the spike.
2kWh oil radiator for 24 hours will consume around 18kWh over 24 hours, allowing for thermostatic cycling. Subtract that from your 28.28 electric and that puts you in a far more happy place. That's the killer because the electric is 3 and a bit times the price of gas. Your gas is High ish, but possibly because of the extremely low outdoor temperatures at the moment.
Yup, a spike for sure, but 18kWh on the radiator cost you around £6.30! The impulse light cycling between once every other second and once every two seconds or so would be the internal thermostat cycling the heater on and off.
when I had an oil filled electric radiator with thermostat it was heating until the room reached the set temperature then went off. The radiator would cool and then so would the room, and the radiator would come on again. So there would be many minutes between electricity consumption periods. Do they all work as you describe nowadays?
