there is another thread on prepayment to a credit meter. Basically E.On Next haven’t had the system to do this, but are just nearing permitting this change. I’ll believe when I hear that it’s a simple straightforward process - years off in my view.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Pages 32 to 36 are the relevant ones. If the problem is the RTI code not valid, then you do need to allow two hours for the code to become valid before it can be used at Payzone, so it may be worth trying the codes again first thing in the morning. Could be that the codes E.On Next have issued are fine, but just haven't rippled through the pipes to the payzone system yet.
Thank you I was told eon edf or Npower cards would be okay. The shop only had Npower cards but it seems to be the codes that were invalid rather than the card itself.
Actually, they all use 'Quantum' cards so any branding won't actually matter. So I have discovered. It's the RTI codes programmed onto a blank card that make them supplier specific. Even I learn something new every day.
If the codes you have still don't work, use a 'generic' code. It won't remove the debt but may just get your gas on in a real emergency. Top up no more than £15 though just to try.
Use code 0399999
If that works to get the gas on at least, that may at least keep you warm while you do battle.
Thank you. I would be very happy with a smart meter - that’s what I’d call ’normal’ I just don’t want this prepay hassle. I can’t believe vulnerable people have to go through this, it’s atrocious. It would be impossible without a phone, Internet and a car !!
Thank you. I was given the second code around 2pm and told to wait until 16.10 to use them. Presumably because of the issue that you mentioned. At around 18.15 they weren’t working.

If their billing website update speed is currently anything to go by....try again in the morning. I'm rooting for you, and everything is crossed! 🤞🤞🤞
Really scratching my head here to find answers, but I'm just another punter like you. This sort of nonsense makes me bloomin' livid. Especially when it's freezing out. I mean, if you just move into a new gaff in summer with no gas, you can at least make a Hot Poodle with the kettle if you can't fire up a gas cooker. But no heat in winter? Utter disgrace.
